The leaf and root contain squamone and bullatacinone; the root also contains Anoniane, Rocemerine, Norcorydine, Iscocorydine, glaucin, and the leaves contain a cardiotonic alkaloid, quinoline. Seeds contain annonacin A & annonastatin.
